Brian Braley, a sales executive with 23 years of experience in health care, has been named senior vice president of global sales and marketing for the American Association for Physician Leadership.

Braley will direct strategic development and execution for the association’s sales and marketing operations. The role will include cultivating relationships with health care organizations that recognize the need for continual development of physician leaders.

Braley will get to merge his strong interest in understanding people and their behaviors with his background in health care, sales and leadership.

“I’ve always valued leadership training from a personal and professional perspective because of what it can do — everyone benefits,” Braley says. “As leaders, physicians directly affect the delivery of care, and physician leadership development directly affects the health of the patients and the health of our health systems.”

Braley began his career as an emergency room technician before spending nearly two decades in health care technology and sales leadership, most recently as vice president of sales with Virginia-based Creative Information Technology Healthcare, a software and solution provider focused on the revenue cycle management market.

He has also worked as an independent consultant and in executive sales positions with Opera Solutions, McKesson Provider Technologies and MedAssets.

“I’ve always been passionate about health care and its processes, and I have a deep respect for physicians,” he says. “I was intrigued by their workloads, responsibilities and the amount of effort they put into their profession and duties.”

Peter Angood, MD, president and CEO of the association, says Braley’s expertise will help AAPL focus on maximizing the potential for physician leadership and its impact on the health care industry.

“Brian brings a foundational understanding of what it means to continue building and expanding the association’s relationships and partnerships,” Angood says.

The nonprofit association, based in Tampa, Florida, offers education, career development and peer support to physicians seeking to develop and maintain leadership skills.

For over 45 years.

The American Association for Physician Leadership has helped physicians develop their leadership skills through education, career development, thought leadership and community building.

The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) changed its name from the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) in 2014. We may have changed our name, but we are the same organization that has been serving physician leaders since 1975.
